Chiann Bao

Chiann is the Secretary-General of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC). As Secretary-General, she functions as the chief executive of the HKIAC and oversees the administration of over 600 arbitrations, mediations, adjudications and other forms of dispute resolution proceedings at the HKIAC. She also ensures the HKIAC performs the statutory functions of the HKIAC in appointing arbitrators and mediators, and leads the team in promoting the use of Hong Kong arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution worldwide.

Prior to joining the HKIAC, Chiann worked with several international law firms and clerked at the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris. She also worked with Neil Kaplan, CBE QC SBS in London as an arbitration assistant. Chiann regularly speaks on international arbitration, with a focus on Asia.

Chiann is a Cornell University graduate and Fulbright Scholar in China. She obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a Master of Arts in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution from the City University of Hong Kong. She is admitted to the New York and Wisconsin Bars.
